[vsnet-alert 7450] BF Ara: new SU UMa-type dwarf nova (ER UMa analog)

BF Ara: new SU UMa-type dwarf nova (ER UMa analog)

Dear Colleagues,

We have received time-series CCD observation from Greg Bolt.
The light curve clearly shows fully grown superhumps with amplitudes
of 0.25 mag and a period of 0.086 d. This observation has thus
established the SU UMa-type nature of BF Ara. Furthermore, BF Ara
is shown to have the shortest supercycle lengths except ER UMa stars
(Kato et al. 2001, IBVS 5119). BF Ara thus could be a "missing link"
between classical SU UMa-type dwarf novae and ER UMa stars.
We have also received a report that Peter Nelson had a 2.5 hour run,
which will be analyzed. Further observation of development
of superhumps are very strongly encouraged.

   Congratulations, Greg!

Regards,
Taichi Kato
